Work, Volunteering, and Shadowing Experience

My experiences in research, clinical shadowing, volunteering, and coaching have strengthened my communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. They’ve also deepened my passion for service and given me meaningful insight into patient care, teamwork, and the realities of working in healthcare.

Louisiana State University

Since January 2025, I have worked in Nicholas Totaro's lab on a project aimed at reducing injury risk in Division I athletes by analyzing biomechanical baseline data. My role in this project includes data collection and data analysis protocol development. I have had the opportunity to shadow in large-scale team meetings and have gained insight into project management and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Child Life Volunteer

Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital

As a Child Life volunteer since April 2025, I support pediatric patients and their families by helping create a comforting and engaging environment during hospitalization. I interact directly with patients through play and conversation, round on rooms to offer emotional support and age-appropriate activities, and maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized playroom. I also work closely with Child Life Specialists and the broader care team to ensure each child’s developmental and emotional needs are met during their hospital stay.

Additional Work Experience

Softball Instructor

I provide softball instruction to athletes of all ages and skill levels through self-contracted individual lessons, group sessions, and long-term coaching relationships. I’ve independently marketed and led camps and have also worked larger-scale camps under my LSU coaches. My work spans short-term clinics to multi-year instruction, focusing on skill development, mentorship, and athlete confidence. These roles have strengthened my communication, leadership, and teaching abilities both on and off the field.

Additional Volunteer Experience

I’ve been involved in various community service efforts, including extensive volunteer work with Geaux Teal, an ovarian cancer awareness organization. I’ve also supported the Miracle League of Baton Rouge, assisting children with disabilities in enjoying adaptive baseball, Front Yard Bikes, creating safe spaces for children in the community to play, and contributed time to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank to help address local food insecurity. These experiences have deepened my commitment to service and strengthened my connection to the communities I’ve been part of.
